In 2019, two overseas Chinese friends met in a Singapore co-working space, frustrated by how hard it was to recharge their family's Chinese mobile plans or top up games like Honor of Kings. Existing platforms required local IDs or WeChat Pay, which they no longer had. They saw a gap: no crypto-friendly, borderless recharge service for the diaspora. In 2020, they launched Orientpay.shop, accepting only USDT and other crypto—no KYC, no fiat—to serve the 60 million overseas Chinese who need fast, private access to China-side digital services.
